Newborn sessions are so special and amazing. This tiny, incredible human being that you have just created, so innocent and new, is suddenly here in your arms.
Being a Mother myself to two beautiful boys, I know it’s these first few weeks that you never want to see end, yet they do and they go so, so fast. All of a sudden they have grown out of their little outfits and that newborn phase has disappeared.
There really is nothing like having this beautiful moment in time frozen and on your wall to cherish forever.
I offer five different packages for my newborn photoshoots, as every clients requirements are different. Ranging from a mini session to a mix and match blow out package.

How To Prepare for a Newborn Photoshoot
I would like you to bring:
- supply of milk and nappies,
A dummy can be a good idea even if your baby doesn't normally use one,
I will also like you to try not to feed your baby for 2-3h before the photoshoot, and please don't put your baby to sleep for as long as you can before your scheduled time, 2-3 hours would be ideal but of course I understand if it's impossible, you will be able to feed once you arrive, that eliminates dressing up/undressing and travel time, giving us higher chances of your baby going into a deep sleep.
- for the family shots, plain clothing for everyone is preferred, for a casual look white, beige, grey or black tops with jeans are great, some dads may prefer to do topless pictures. If you would prefer a smarter look this is great but please bring comfy clothes along with you. same applies for smart plain is best, avoiding strong patterns, pictures or writing.
At the photoshoot, you might like to bring a snack or lunch.
During the photoshoot my clients are responsible for other children that come with them as well as their new born baby. A reading book, colouring book or tablet for siblings to bring along is a good idea.
- Deciding on poses/shots we take, unfortunately it's not entirely up to my clients or me, I cannot guarantee achieving certain poses with all babies, they are all different, I will not force babies to do anything outside of their comfort zone, I aim to make the photoshoot a pleasant experience for both, parents and babies.
Our standard waiting time for finished products is 2-4 weeks but may extend over Christmas period.

Newborn Photoshoots require a £49 non-refundable session fee to be paid When Booking to secure your time & date.

Newborn dates are pencilled in one week after your due date, I will always accommodate for early or late arrivals.

While I love photographing new born babies, I think my favourite part of a new born session is working with the family during this amazing time of them welcoming their little one into the world.
Being able to capture their love for their child is so fulfilling to me personally and professionally.
Frequently asked questions and answers
When should I schedule my newborn session?
Due to the fact that a newborn session is best taken place between 5-18 days old please contact me to set up your session before you have your baby, preferably in your second trimester when possible to ensure a spot for you on my calendar. However, please do not hesitate to contact me if you are in your third trimester or if your baby has already arrived. I always try to squeeze newborns in as I know how special it is to get your newborn gallery and not miss out.
Does the session really need to take place between 5-18 days of age?
Yes, staying within this time frame is recommended if you are looking for those adorable sleepy posed shots of your baby. This is when your baby is the smallest they will ever be, still curled, and very sleepy. Plus babies change so dramatically in such a short amount of time. You will be amazed how different your baby looks at one month! Having said that I have photographed many newborns much older than this timeframe and we are still able to capture some beautiful images just know the sleepy curled up shots are often difficult to achieve. It’s never too late to have your newborn’s images taken.
How long will my newborn photography session take?
Newborn photography sessions take between 1-4 hours depending on the disposition of the baby and the package you have chosen. I like to keep the atmosphere very relaxed and allow time for breaks for feeding and changing.
Where will the session take place?
The session takes place at my studio which is an outbuilding at my home within the Ribble Valley, Lancashire. The studio allows you access to all of my props, backdrops, and outfits. The studio offers plenty of car parking. Please note that their are steps up to the studio with no disabled access at the moment. (please contact me if this may be an issue for you)
What happens during a newborn session?
Newborn sessions (Collection 2, 3 and 4) are primarily focused on the baby with the last 30 minutes of the session focused on family and/sibling shots. The family portion of the session can also take place in the beginning of the session if the entire family is coming to the session so everyone is nice and fresh.
For collection 1 the session focuses on family pictures, no individual pictures of your newborn are taken, this is more like a lifestyle photography session rather than posed capturing the love and bold between baby and you.
Do you take pictures of the family as well?
Absolutely! I love when mum, dad and siblings want to be included in the session.
Who supplies all the cute hats/headbands for the baby?
I have a supply of hats, headbands, outfits and wraps etc. If you have any clothing or items you would like included please bring them with you to the session. I love to include anything personal to the family like a teddy or blanket.
What should we wear for the family pictures?
I always suggest first and foremost to wear something you are comfortable in and try to stay with soft toned solid colours and avoid patterns. patterns can take the attention away from you and your baby. If you would like a more traditional look then wear black t-shirts but I have found many of my clients like a more modern light and airy look and will wear soft, muted colours.
To keep the focus on the baby stay away from loud prints and patterns. Dresses are available in the studio for mum, siblings.
decide on a tone / colour palette and make sure all family members are matching that.
